Wester Ross is a landscape of spectacular mountains and glens, bordered in the west by a magnificent coastline of sheltered bays of golden sand. The ruggedness of the mountains is echoed in names such as Liathach, An Teallach and Slioch, while the names of lochs like Clair and Maree reflect the calmness of the inland waters. This is a region of peninsulas separated by deep sea-lochs, fringed by picturesque coastal villages and crofting townships. A truly inspirational setting for landscape photographers.
Accommodation: The Gairloch Highland Lodge Hotel is situated close to the harbour and the emphasis in this three star establishment is on real Highland hospitality. House specials include locally caught fish, shellfish and game.
