On Location: The Western Isles

Nine days, eight nights island tour.

The Western Isles or Outer Hebrides lie between 50 and 100km across the Minch and the Sea of the Hebrides from Mainland Scotland. Offering a spectacular combination of coastal and mountain scenery, dramatic ancient monuments and an unrivalled variety of flora and fauna, these islands abound with opportunities to take your photography to a new level. Our itinerary takes us from the Standing Stones of Callanish on the Isle of Lewis in the north, to the beautiful and remote beaches of the island of Vatersay in the south. We will visit at least ten islands on our journey, which has been specifically timed to coincide with the islands’ most colourful season when the wild flowers of the machair are in full bloom.

Accommodation:  On the first and last nights we stay at Glenbruach Country House in the Trossachs.

Baile na Cille - featured in The Good Hotel Guide Scotland and The Best Good Food Guide. In a stunning location with endless photography on the doorstep!

Carinish Inn—A three star inn with the warmest of island welcomes. Totally refurbished in 1999. Close to all the best photographic locations in the Uists.

Isle of Barra Hotel— A three star hotel situated on beautiful Tangasdale beach. Very comfortable with a friendly staff and great food.
